Mohamed Hirji

Biography: Mohamed hails from Uganda, Africa. He spent most of his childhood years in neighboring Kenya where he developed a love of the outdoors and particularly an appreciation of the natural world. In 1974, his growing fascination with nature compelled him to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. After moving to Edmonton in 1978, Mohamed developed an interest in painting as a way to manifest the images and colours of his childhood. Although Mohamed paints in oils as well, he prefers to tackle the difficult medium of watercolour for its luminosity, spontaneity, and freshness; Moreover, he thrives on the challenge it poses. ...................................................................................................................................................................................................... Artist's Statement: Perfection is an attribute exclusive to God. Pursuit of perfection is however a human endeavor. With my paintings, I strive to achieve that goal by transporting the viewer into the scene of my painting so they experience the scent of my florals, hear the rustling of the leaves in my landscapes, feel the chill in my snowscapes and hear the crashing of the waves in my seascapes................................................................................................ ................................................................................... My Vision: Poetry in every soul, Art on every wall.
